ad | Everyone loves Autumn and it’s no surprise that it’s most people’s favourite season of the year. After a long, hot Summer, it’s finally time to get cosy again and start gearing up for Halloween, bonfire night and of course, Christmas! But before we get there, we have to embrace the cosy vibes of Autumn first.

It doesn’t take much to up the cosy scale when the weather gets cooler and whilst some people go all out with Autumn décor, it’s definitely not necessary. I don’t personally decorate for Autumn, I just save it all for Christmas.

But if you do want to up the cosiness this year – perhaps it’s been a rough year or you’re a bit physically or mentally exhausted, whatever the reason – feeling warm, homely and cosy can even positively impact your mental health.

So here are 8 way to get mega cosy this Autumn:

Light the candles

Candles are the absolute Autumn go-to and we’ve been lighting a lot of candles in our home recently and it’s been lovely. Obviously any candle will do but it’s nice to seek out the Autumnal scents for the full effect.

Go for oversized and comfortable clothing

Cosiness starts with you and what your wearing is a great place to start. Anything oversized is a good call and you can find plenty of oversized shirts on boldoversize.

If you’re looking for oversized sweatshirts for women, they have those too. In my opinion, there’s nothing comfier than an oversized sweatshirt! You can find their full collection of oversized tops for women here.

Throws are your friend

You can find some really lovely and affordable throws in places like Dunelm or even Primark Home. Throws add texture, colour and cosiness to any room but particularly bedrooms and living areas.

Consider more seasonal cooking

Cosiness doesn’t have to stop with soft furnishings. Up the cosy scale even more with some seasonal cooking with beautiful seasonal and – if possible – local produce. Think soups, stews, pastas and more!

Invest in some Autumn decor

Like I said above, I don’t personally decorate for Autumn but I absolutely love Autumn home décor and think homes looks gorgeous dressed up with home décor. Again, you can get some affordable homeware in places like Matalan or Primark Home.

Use fairy lights

Lighting can make a huge difference to how cosy a room feels and there’s nothing much cosier than fairy lights, is there? Any fairy lights will do, wrapped around your fireplace, coffee table, windowsill – wherever you want!

Switch up your artwork

Artwork can have more of an impact than we think. I had a lot of Summer photos up in my old office that I switched up when it became Winter. If your artwork has a Summery feel, consider some perfect prints.

Have a range of hot drinks available

This is really nice for guests when they come over as well but having a large range of hot drinks available is a great idea in the cooler months. You could even create a little coffee station!

How do you like to make your house and life cozier for Autumn?
