ad | The definition of a geek is as follows, “a person who is knowledgeable about and obsessively interested in a particular subject, especially one that is technical or of specialist or niche interest.” And I think it’s really cool being a geek about things because, at the end of the day, it just means that you’re interested in stuff. What’s so wrong about that?

There are so many things we can geek out about and we all have different hobbies, loves and interests to it will vary from person to person. So today I wanted to share some of the niche things that I tend to geek out about and find a lot of interest in.

There are so many ways to embrace your geekiness; attending events, wearing a geek t shirt based on your interests and much more. Wearing geek hoodies can also be a great ice breaker, if someone else likes the same thing that you do.

At the end of the day, it’s all about connection and finding people to geek out about the same stuff that you do. It’s so much fun when you find a group of likeminded people, either online or offline who understand your love for a particular subject.

6 stereotypical geeky things I actually love:

The Lord of the Rings

I might not know Elvish but I am a big fan of The Lord of the Rings. I love the story and the immense worlds that Tolkein created. We even stayed in a Hobbit Pod once, which was really fun as we binge-watched all 3 LoTR whilst we were there! If you want something to mark your Lord of the Rings geekiness, check out these nerd shirts.

Books

Not an uncommon love by any means and not one I feel is particularly geeky but perhaps that because I love them so much and that’s obviously books and reading. It can be easy to geek out over books, especially when you do a deep dive into BookTok or watch a lot of Bookish YouTubers.

Star Wars

Another series that I absolutely love and considering I wouldn’t think of myself as a Fantasy fan, there’s an awful lot of it in this post so far. I love Star Wars and the different eras and characters throughout. And actually quite liked The Last Jedi and where the story went.

Space

Something I don’t necessarily understand a lot of but something I’m really interested in and would LOVE to spend some more time learning about. I find space and the night sky absolutely fascinating. If it’s a clear night, I’m always staring out of my window and researching what planets are currently on show.

Everest

Okay this is pretty niche but despite the fact I’m 99.9% never going to climb Mount Everest, I am really fascinated with it and love watching documentaries and YouTube videos about it. I’d love to think I could attempt it one day – I have a lot of admiration for anyone that does.

Red Dead Redemption

Red Dead Redemption 2 had me in an absolute chokehold when I first played it. I absolutely adored that game and everything about it; it consumed my life for months and months. The graphics, the open-world, the characters. I’ve never cried during a video game before but this. RDR2 will always have a special place in my heart.
