Easy ways to support small businesses

Since being a blogger and especially since being active on social media, I’ve discovered so many small businesses that I never would have found before. I love that the internet and social media has opened up such incredible business opportunities, especially for creatives and enabled them to pursue doing what they love and even opening up self-employment as a viable option. As well as being a blogger, I used to be a small online business owner and although I wasn’t selling “things” (like artwork for example) but services, I know first hand how difficult having a business online can be and the struggles you can face which eventually, all got too big for me which is why I had to sadly shut it down. But that experience has made me admire small business owners possibly even more than I did before and I was always advocate for supporting them!

Utilizing sponsored content & working with brands

Utilizing sponsored content & working with brands

I absolutely love working with brands on my blog; it’s something that I never thought I’d see happen for me but alas, after years of hard work, it did and now it’s one of my favourite aspects of blogging! Of course it doesn’t come without it’s stresses, like invoices not being paid on time, rude PR people and products which don’t quite live up to expectations but on the whole, I’ve had a hugely positive experience working with brands on product reviews and sponsored content over the last year or so.

Being ghosted by brands… what?!

Working with brands is one of my favourite things about blogging and I’ll always be grateful that brands want to work with me, pay me or send me stuff. I don’t think I’ll ever, ever, ever take that for granted because in all honesty, I’m still gobsmacked that I’m even in the position for this to happen. I’ll always be enthusiastic about working with brands and this post is in no way a dig at any brand in particular. It’s just a little… word vomit… about something which I’ve noticed happen recently. Both to me and other bloggers.

Cool for the Summer ft. Indigo Herbs

For me, Summer is definitely a time to make sure I can feel as good as possible. It’s no secret that I actually hate Summer; I cant handle the heat, it makes me anxious and often leaves me feeling ill. I also don’t enjoy sneezing 400 times a day and being a general snotty mess from May till September. But alas, I have to endure it like everyone else but at least this time of year makes me want to drink more water, eat more fruit, cut out more meat and just generally consume more healthier products. So you know, you win some, you lose some.

Sponsored posts, earning money & blogging as a business – tips & tricks

When I started blogging I never dreamed that one day, I’d actually get sent a product – for free – in order to write about it. I never thought I’d ever get paid to write a blog post – I mean, what? That only happens to Zoella, right? I didn’t understand how blogging can be a serious business, that there’s money to be made from it and that brands actually genuinely trust bloggers, want to work with them and promote their products through this platform. I’ve been lucky that now in my almost 5 years of blogging, I’ve had the chance to review some amazing products, work with incredible brands and write sponsored posts which Jesus Christ… I got money for doing. Actual money. Not Monopoly money.

What I got my mum for Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is one of the few commercialised holidays that I can say I somewhat celebrate. I mean, not extravagantly or anything but I like to recognise it as a day and use it to treat my mum a bit as a small token of thanks for everything she’s done for me since birthing me all those years ago now. This is also the first year that I’ve embraced that holiday on my blog and taken part in a couple of Mother’s Day campaigns, which has been great. So as it’s Mother’s Day today, I wanted to do a little round up of everything I got my mum, the campaigns I’ve worked on this month and where you can find some of these goodies!

Earlier in March, I collaborated with Prestige Flowers and reviewed a bouquet from their Luxury Mother’s Day range. My mum adores flowers and we always have a couple of bunches dotted around the house so although I paid for these in work, instead of money, they were still technically for her and she really loved them.

The Benefits of the Internet on the Consumer Market

Since starting my blog, I’ve been drawn in more and more by the consumer market. With products of all different types flying at you from every corner of the Internet, it’s incredibly hard to ignore. But secretly… I love it. And I’m proud to be a part of it. Over the last year, I’ve had the opportunity to review and test out a whole bunch of products from beauty, food, clothes and even pet care. Although it can be quite taboo, a blogger openly admitting that they love doing product reviews and love being sent stuff for that purpose, I do love it and I won’t hide it because it’s a privilege and I’m proud to have worked hard to the point where I’m trusted with this stuff. Not only that, I love raving about products I love to my online readers and friends which I know they might be interested in.
