When I started blogging I never dreamed that one day, I’d actually get sent a product – for free – in order to write about it. I never thought I’d ever get paid to write a blog post – I mean, what? That only happens to Zoella, right? I didn’t understand how blogging can be a serious business, that there’s money to be made from it and that brands actually genuinely trust bloggers, want to work with them and promote their products through this platform. I’ve been lucky that now in my almost 5 years of blogging, I’ve had the chance to review some amazing products, work with incredible brands and write sponsored posts which Jesus Christ… I got money for doing. Actual money. Not Monopoly money.
Mother’s Day is one of the few commercialised holidays that I can say I somewhat celebrate. I mean, not extravagantly or anything but I like to recognise it as a day and use it to treat my mum a bit as a small token of thanks for everything she’s done for me since birthing me all those years ago now. This is also the first year that I’ve embraced that holiday on my blog and taken part in a couple of Mother’s Day campaigns, which has been great. So as it’s Mother’s Day today, I wanted to do a little round up of everything I got my mum, the campaigns I’ve worked on this month and where you can find some of these goodies!
Earlier in March, I collaborated with Prestige Flowers and reviewed a bouquet from their Luxury Mother’s Day range. My mum adores flowers and we always have a couple of bunches dotted around the house so although I paid for these in work, instead of money, they were still technically for her and she really loved them.
Since starting my blog, I’ve been drawn in more and more by the consumer market. With products of all different types flying at you from every corner of the Internet, it’s incredibly hard to ignore. But secretly… I love it. And I’m proud to be a part of it. Over the last year, I’ve had the opportunity to review and test out a whole bunch of products from beauty, food, clothes and even pet care. Although it can be quite taboo, a blogger openly admitting that they love doing product reviews and love being sent stuff for that purpose, I do love it and I won’t hide it because it’s a privilege and I’m proud to have worked hard to the point where I’m trusted with this stuff. Not only that, I love raving about products I love to my online readers and friends which I know they might be interested in.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but a lot of peeps who start a blog have the intention of hopefully, maybe, doing product reviews somewhere down the line. I know I did. And I’ll be the first to admit that getting free stuff is f***ing awesome. And having brands put their products and trust in your hands is f***ing awesome. But unfortunately, with so many bajillions of bloggers all hoping and working for the same thing, products don’t always come to us at the rate we want them to.
If you’re a blogger, there’s probably a 99.9% chance that you’ve heard of Prairie Charms – a small, handmade accessories and gifts company that sell the cutest jewellery, nail and hair bits and lots of other adorbs gifts. I signed up for their Christmas Campaign, where by for just £5, you receive 4 of their products. I received mine last week and am so thrilled with everything from the products to the customer service so here’s a wee little post about what goodies I got and why I’d recommend Prairie Charms!
