Since starting a blog, I’ve truly learnt the value of championing yourself. Of celebrating your own achievements and not being afraid to share them with the world – however small. I think this may be through the uprising of self-care and self-love which clearly teaches you that you are worthy and we should love ourselves no matter what.
I have a funny ol’ relationship with Christmas. As a kid, predictably, I loved it. Presents, food, fairy-lights, days off school – what kid wouldn’t? I don’t have any siblings and my family aren’t particularly close so even as a kid, Christmas was always a quiet affair. There was no huge parties or having dozens of people round. It was usually just my parents and my grandparents on my mum’s side who spent Christmas day at our house; my dad would take my Granddad to the Royal British Legion for a few hours (something he still does) and my mum, Nan and I would stay in, watch some crappy Christmas day TV, drink tea and eat chocolate. That was just Christmas to me. I never knew any different.
When I started private counselling for my anxiety, I was in the midst of one of the worst periods my mental health has ever seen. I barely left the house. My thoughts were so irrational. The thought of going anywhere left me in a state of dread and that first therapy appointment? My gosh, I thought I was going to die. But starting private therapy was invaluable for me; my counsellor and I got along really well, I trusted her and felt I could fully open up to her. She really did help me in so many ways and I often wonder where I would be today had I not gone to see her in that time when I was so desperate for anything to help numb these unbearable feelings of constant dread, anxiety and fear over everything and nothing all at once.
The ever ever ever so lovely Laura Noakes tagged me in this Blogger Recognition Award tag which I really wanted to do. I also wanted to take this chance to help support smaller bloggers so please do check out all the bloggers I’ve tagged in this post. Anyway, here’s are the rules:
2. Write a post to show your award.
3. Give a brief story of how your blog started.
4. Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.
5. Select 15 other bloggers you want to give this award to.
6. Comment on each blog and let them know you have nominated them & provide the link to the post you created (I’ll probs just tag y’all on Twitter!) Continue reading
I don’t do these chain award tag posts anymore if I’m honest. A lot of them are for new bloggers and I’m long from being a new blogger but I was tagged in one the other day which was mostly Disney themed and it looked like fun so I wanted to join in. I’m not sure if this tag is designed for new bloggers or just anyone who fancies doing it but what I’m going to do is tag 10 bloggers with under 500 blog followers at the end of this post for you to check out and spread the love! Thank you to Charlie from That is the Spell for my nomination, do go and check out his wonderful blog!
