GIFTED | I think it’s safe to say that we all marvel at the jewelry superstars have hanging around their necks and in their ears. The time, effort and money that goes into one piece is extraordinary. And whilst I might not have the means to treat myself the same way as say, Rihanna does, a new piece of jewelry (whatever the price) always goes down well. Especially if it’s rose gold. So what’s this got to do with Thorntons Pearls?

Thorntons Pearls

Chocolate and jewelry are two things us ladies love. With 1 in 5 admitting that jewelry is one of their favourite affordable things to treat themselves to. But with chocolate coming top of the list of affordable treats. I’m not sure what I’d rather. But with Thornton’s launch of the new Thorntons Pearls, I wouldn’t have to choose!

Thorntons have recreated some of the most iconic images featuring pearls, to celebrate the launch of their new Thorntons Pearls range. But here’s the twist… Each piece of jewelry in the recreated images are made entirely of chocolate! And they look almost too good to eat.

Thorntons teamed up with fashion expert, Nisha Grewal to style the images and she said:

“Pearls are having a resurgence and are firmly established as the must have gemstone of 2019. We saw pearls added to headbands, jackets and even denim on the Spring/Summer catwalks, offering a modern twist to a long time classic. It’s a huge trend for the summer and is only set to continue.”

And the pieces took the Thorntons chocolate makers and chocolate food artist Prudence Staite 135 hours to make 781 handmade, hand-crafted, individual pearls. Wow! So which images featuring pearls have been voted the most iconic? I bet you can think of a few but here’s the top 3:

1. Marilyn Monroe

2. Princess Diana

3. Girl with the Pearl Earring

And the rest of the list is as follows:

  1. Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge
  2. Elizabeth Taylor
  3. Jackie Kennedy
  4. Coco Chanel
  5. Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall
  6. Rihanna
  7. Michelle Obama

And onto the chocolate itself… I was sent a box of the Thorntons Pearls Salted Caramel flavor which I was absolutely delighted about because I adore salted caramel anyway. It’s hardly a surprise that these were absolutely delicious I mean, you don’t go into Thorntons thinking “eeek I hope this is good”. We know it’s good. It’s Thorntons.

Each pearl comes wrapped in this lovely blue and copper wrapper. The outer chocolate is classic Thorntons. Creamy and just heavenly. And the salted caramel inside is really smooth and gooey (awful word but in the best way possible). And is salty enough to be noticeably salted but not too much that it tastes like fish and chips. Banging.

I’d highly recommend trying the Thorntons Pearls out for yourself, which come in Nutty Crunch and the Salted Caramel flavor. You can find your nearest store using the store locator here. Are you a fan of pearls?
