ad // 2022 wasn’t a huge year of travel or holidays for me, unfortunately. Although I’m certainly not complaining, I did a LOT of really lovely things this year and I’m very grateful for all the memories I made but it would have been nice to go away a few more times. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, isn’t it?
I think at the end of every year we think that we’d have liked to travel a bit more – I know I certainly do. Travel hasn’t been a huge part of my life over the last decade, with the help of a crippling anxiety disorder. But I’m getting to that point where I feel like I need to get out there and explore much more than I have been.
Although some years just typically don’t lend themselves to much travel. 2023 might be difficult for me to travel in as well as there are some big changes happening in my life and we’re going to have to be much more conscious with money. Gallivanting here, there and everywhere probably wouldn’t be the smartest idea!
But I think it’s important that we have some ideas and dreams of things we want to do when a New Year rolls around and I think most of us have some dream destinations we’d like to visit, come a new year.
I have a small list below of 5 places I’d like to visit next year. I feel like I’ve been quite realistic with my choices and could probably get some cheap holidays to the below places, if I really looked for them! So hopefully I can tick a few off my list by the end of next year!
Amsterdam
Amsterdam has always been high up on my list of places I want to travel to but for some reason, I’ve never quite got there. From what I’ve seen and heard, it looks like a beautiful place to visit!
I’d definitely consider using the Go Amsterdam Pass on my visit if I am lucky enough to go, as the pass covers over 20 of Amsterdam’s most popular attractions which is highly likely I’d want to see whilst I was there anyway!
Disneyland Paris
I think Disneyland Paris is on EVERY SINGLE list I make of places I want to go. I think if I’d just come back from DLP, it’d still be on my list because I’d just want to go straight back. It’s my favourite place on Earth and been FAR too long since I’ve been.
I’d love to go for Christmas – I went in November the last time and all their Christmas decorations etc were up and it was just so magical.
Norwegian Cruise
My partner has been on a Norwegian cruise with his family when he was younger and he always raves about it. It’s a type of cruise we’d be REALLY keen to do together.
We did look at trying to get a cruise in for the end of 2022 but he couldn’t get quite enough time off work to fit in a Norwegian cruise, so hopefully, it’d be a dream to fit one in in 2023.
Bath
One a little closer to home now and that’s Bath. I was actually planning on going to Bath this December but for some reason or another, it didn’t materialize. So I really hope I can get a short solo trip to Bath in for 2023.
I’ve always heard good things about Bath and there’s so much I’d love to see there, including the Roman Baths of course. It looks beautiful and I think it’d also be the perfect place for a solo break!
Paris
I know I’ve already mentioned Paris (technically) in this post but I’d also really love to go to the actual city of Paris in 2023 as well for a short city break. I’ve been to France SO many times (including to go skiing) but never have I had the opportunity to explore Paris by ourselves.
If luck would have it, a river cruise from Southampton to France would be a glorious experience, giving me the opportunity to not only see Paris but more of what France has to offer.
I’ve become really keen on how the French live, work and enjoy life. I think they have an amazing work to life balance and love their attitude towards food as well, so I feel like I’d be right at home in Paris.
Hopefully you’ll find me sitting outside a beautiful café in Paris, sipping a cappuccino and eating a croissant in 2023. Or riding on Big Thunder Mountain or perhaps wandering around Bath.
I’m certainly not going to get my hopes up too high but I will make a conscious effort to try and plan a few trips for next year. Birmingham and Great Yarmouth just didn’t cut it for 2022!
[…] and going on holiday is supposed to be one of the biggest joys and most exciting things throughout the year so of course […]
I LOVEEE Amsterdam! I haven’t been in years but we’ve been dying to go back. It’s actually our honeymoon destination, we just haven’t gotten around to it yet.

Oh! I loved our time in Bath! Let me share the link that includes pictures from the Roman baths. And ‘Gallivanting’! I adore that word!
Friends are at Disney Paris right now for Christmas! Synchronicities!
Thanks for the link! So jealous of your friends!
It was a life-changing trip for sure!
