AD – This is a collaborative post but all thoughts are my own

It’s been a long time since I last went to the happiest place on Earth – Disney. My last trip was in 2011 (it feels like an ultra long time to me!) and I’ve missed it ever since. Unfortunately for me, right after that last trip was when my anxiety got to it’s worst and I spend the next few years terrified to leave the house so a Disney trip wouldn’t have been on the cards for me then anyway. But since I’ve recovered from my mental illness, I am SO READY to go back.

And what wonderful timing… right before this COVID situation, I was actually starting to plan my next trip. Typical, isn’t it? I spend almost a decade unable to go but as soon as I can, we’re all forced to stay at home *facepalms*. I’m not complaining really; I’d much rather everyone be safe and well. That’s the thing about Disney…

It’ll always be there for you.

So naturally I’ve been seriously missing Disney and I’m really looking forward to when I can finally visit again. I’ve mentioned this on my blog before, including in my Florida Travel Wish List post I published last week, that the only Disney park I’ve actually been to is Paris. I’ve been to DLP 3 times and whilst I absolutely LOVE it, I would like to see some other Disney parks in my life, too. Particularly Florida. If you’re itching to go back too, grab your Disney tickets Florida and more here!

I’ve spoken about my huge love for Disney on my blog before. Although based on my blog name alone, you probably don’t need me to tell you that I love Disney. And for me, Disneyland Paris is my happiest place on Earth. It really is. When I step off of that train into the park, nothing can get to me. It’s like Disney magic is protecting me as soon as I walk into the park.

So today I wanted to share 8 reasons why I can’t wait to go back to Disney! Do you agree with any of these…

To go back on my favourite ride

Can you guess what my favourite ride is? I bet it’s pretty obvious. Peter Pan’s Flight is my favourite ride of them all. Although it’s slow and it’s certainly no thrill ride, it’s just so magical. The last 2 times I’ve visited the park, it’s been the first ride I went on when I got there and the last ride I went on before I left. In fact, we were very nearly late for our train because we were on that ride! Whoops!

To go on the thrill rides

Although Peter Pan’s Flight takes my top spot of the rides at Disney, the thrill rides make me mega excited and I can’t wait to go back and go on them. My boyfriend loves rides too so I can’t wait to show him the likes of Big Thunder Mountain, Crushes Coaster and Space Mountain – which I know he’ll absolutely love! And of course you can’t forget Phantom Manor and The Tower of Terror.

To meet the characters

Although it’s not something I usually prioritize when I go to Disneyland, I still love meeting the characters. I had a lovely meet with Winnie the Pooh at Christmas and Mickey at New Years. I think my favourite meets are when you casually bump into the characters walking around though!

To go shopping in Main Street

I love going for a mooch around the shops after a long day of riding the rides. I love the array of merch in there and always ending spending far too much but then again, who doesn’t when they’re unleashed onto Main Street? I’ve bought a cuddly toy every year I’ve been. Last time was Dumbo, the time before was Peter Pan. So I guess I’ll have to get someone else to go into my collection.

To watch the parades

The parades are a great way to break up to long days at Disney, which usually involve a lot of spinning on the rides and sore feet from all the walking. So I can’t wait to chill out with a hot chocolate and watch the parade travel down Main Street and into the park. The parades are always so much fun and it’s impossible not to have a little sing and dance along with your favourite characters!

To embrace Disney magic all day, every day

2020 has been stressful. To say the least. And I think we’ll all need a bit of magic and light to help us come to terms with the year we’ve had and move on. When I’m in Disney, I find it incredibly easy to switch off and embrace what’s going on around me. I mean, there’s so much going on all the time, it’s hard not to, right? Which is what I really need right now.

To treat myself after lockdown

As I was planning on doing this this year anyway but couldn’t because COVID and lockdown stopped me, I think it’ll be time to seriously treat myself when all of this is over and that’s another huge reason why I want to go back to Disney. After the stress of 2020, I think all of us are going to need some time away to switch off, relax and have fun. And for me, that’s definitely Disney!

To show Carl the magic of Disneyland

Carl has never been to Disneyland and in the time that we’ve been together, he’s introduced me to so many things that I’ve grown to love (like Motorsport) and taken me to so many places that he knew I’d like; Shropshire, Silverstone, the Norfolk Broads. So it’s time to return the favour. Carl loves Disney too and I know he’d love Disneyland so I absolutely can’t wait until we can book a trip and I can show him around for once!

Have you been to Disney? Are you looking forward to your first visit back after lockdown? What can’t you wait to see and do when you get there?

  3. You wanting to take Carl because you love so many things he’s introduced you to is so cute. I haven’t been to Disney since 99 so I can hardly remember anything! x

If only for Galaxy’s Edge. 😍 We went to DLP last year for my sister’s Hen weekend and we were supposed to go back next year (after Frozen / Star Wars season) for her 30th. But them COVID hit and she’s now pregnant so that will be hold for a whole.

I went to PortAventura in Spain and its a little similar where it has all the rides and the different themed areas but one of my fave things was the parade, so I would love to watch the parade in Disneyland, I just feel like it would be so magical!

  16. The first I time I visited Disney I was 18 (late to the party I know) and I’ve been twice since! It’s the most amazing place! Plus as you said, the Peter Pan ride is so underrated because it’s not a massive thrill ride

  17. Cool post! I also wish to travel to Disneyland or Disney World again in the future. The last time I visited Disneyland Paris was in 2004. I miss all the rides and characters.

  20. You have just brought back so many happy memories, we took the kids 3 times in total and the best holidays we ever had, we loved it overtime. We keep thinking about returning, I should add the kids are 28 and 25 now! Stayed in Sequoia Lodge, Santa Fe and Newport Bay. Favourite rides is a tough call, Pirates of the Caribbean is right up there, but don’t laugh, has to be “its a small world”. I even have the Disney Parad song on my play list in the Car!!!

  21. I’ve never been to Disneyland as i’ve never been able to afford it but its definitely on my bucket list! I can’t wait to meet all the characters, especially the princesses<3

  22. Omg this really makes me want to go to Disney! I’ve only been to the one in Paris and that was when I was so little that the only thing I remember about it was that I got lost!!! I always thought Disney was ‘just a theme park’ and was so overrated, but more and more bloggers have been talking about it and there’s actually so much to see and do!!!

  23. I was in DisneyWorld just before the lockdown, on our first full day it was announced that Disney was closing! I was heartbroken to say the least! We had to cram everything in into 3 days! I hope I get to go back once this is all over! X

  24. This is such a lovely post! I think it’s great to look ahead and think about the things that will happen once this COVID-19 situation gets better. Peter Pan’s Flight is such an incredible ride! I definitely prefer the more tamer rides so it’s the perfect amount of thrill for me. This post has made me excited to visit Disneyland again as well!

  25. A few years ago some friends of mine visited Disneyland Paris. They told me so much about this magical place that they convinced me I had to get there. Unfortunately, this year I really don’t think I will be able to, both because of the coronavirus and because my budget has dropped significantly during this period. But I dreamed that one day I would get there.

  26. I’d love to return to Disneyland too! I went once when I was a child and have been longing to go back since! I’d love to watch the parades and try the new rides!

  27. Love this! Thankfully we went to Disneyland Paris last summer and we all wanted to go back this year! You’ve come along way with your anxiety. I am plannng our first ever trip to Florida in the next five years, it’s an expensive trip that I want to get right!

I am planning a trip back to Disneyland Paris next Autumn, really can’t wait! Excellent post,
