Sponsored | I’m a huge fan of staycations. In fact, I haven’t been abroad in a good number of years now. Of course I’d like to (anxiety permitting) but I’m thoroughly enjoying exploring the UK and what it has to offer. There is so much variety. So much to see and do and some real gems to add to your UK bucket list too! So today I’m sharing my relaxing UK Summer holidays with you – the perfect destinations for a relaxing and memorable getaway this Summer!

Relaxing UK Summer Holidays

Norfolk Broads

If you’re after tranquility, nature and a peaceful holiday, the Norfolk Broads is the place for you. If you can, hire a river cruiser for the week, cruise and enjoy the slow pace of life the river has to offer. I’ve done this twice and it’s such a lovely holiday. And something a little different too.

The broads are utterly beautiful, with plenty of nature and wildlife to see, cute pubs and places to eat. And of course not far from Great Yarmouth. Where you can moor up for the day and enjoy the traditional English seaside!

Bedford Lodge Hotel & Spa

Situated in the heart of Newmarket and adjacent to the famous racecourse, the Bedford Lodge Hotel combined modern luxury and and comfort rolled into one. Situated in 3 acres of secluded gardens in a beautiful country setting, this could be the perfect option for some romantic but relaxing UK Summer holidays!

But it doesn’t stop there. The hotel also has it’s own 5 Bubble Rated spa, which features a spacious hydrotherapy pool, rooftop hot tub, sauna, steam room. And a variety of treatments and packages you can indulge in. The Spa at Bedford Lodge offers everything you could need for your perfect relaxing Summer break.

Relaxing UK Summer Holidays

Severn Valley Railway

I like to do a range of different things when it comes to relaxing UK Summer holidays and spending a weekend on the Severn Valley Railway wasn’t something I ever thought I’d enjoy. Turns out, I love it! And we now go twice a year. Whether you’re into steam trains or not it’s a lovely, slow weekend that really takes you back in time!

Twice a year the Severn Valley Railway host their steam galas. Although they don’t do one in the dead of Summer anymore, their Autumn gala (which is usually mid-September) often has nice enough weather. For something that’s completely out of the ordinary, I’d highly recommend giving this a go!

Brooklands Hotel & Mercedes-Benz World

I have to cater for everyone and although motor racing and fast cars might not be relaxing for everyone, it certainly is for me! The Brooklands Hotel is situated on the site of the old Brooklands race track. The oldest race track in the world! And although the hotel is stunning and the restaurant is spectacular, it’s what’s nearby that I want to mention.

Literally a stones throw away is the Mercedes-Benz World, a seriously impressive facility which offers Mercedes-Benz related entertainment all year round. Not to mention a whole host of driving experiences for the speed freaks among us!

The Lake District

And finally, I couldn’t not mention The Lake District. One of the most beautiful and relaxing places I’ve been in the UK. If you want spectacular scenery worthy of Pinterest. This is the place to go! There’s just so much to say about The Lake District but I did a blog post when I actually went which you can read here.

What I didn’t mention in that post is the unfortunate incident we had with my boyfriend’s car, when we went a little too fast over a very small bridge and ended up damaging the suspension, eek! The roads are great around The Lake District but PLEASE be careful if you go buy car! Shortly after that we had to use a car junk yard to scrap his car!

I staying in a gorgeous bungalow cottage overlooking the Solway Firth when I stayed and although we were a little far from the actual lakes (if I went again, I’d stay somewhere closer) everywhere we went was utterly beautiful.

So if you’re struggling with ideas for your relaxing UK Summer holidays this year, I hope you’ve found some inspiration! Where do you like to go for a relaxing break?

  1. You know I share your love of staycations, so of course I loved this post. There are so many places I want to explore in the UK and the Lake District is top of the list. I’m hoping to get there later this year. I often head to Weymouth during the Summer months.

  2. I’d love to go to the Lake District, I’ve never been but have always wanted to go as a lil holiday. The weather has been so miserable this past week though so I am very happy to be going abroad in less than 2 weeks time! Although I am a big fan of UK holidays, there’s so much to see here, my fave places are usually little historic towns – love going to York or Warwick.

  3. Looks beautiful! I’ve never been to the Lake District, I’ve never been anywhere in England other than London and Manchester, both times for business. It’s something I actually have on my bucket list though, as I’ve heard so many good things.

    The spa looks to.die.for!

  4. The UK is such a beautiful country I hope to visit soon. I have created a bucket list with things I would like to do and I have just added these new places you mentioned. The Lake District would be my first stop.

Thank you for sharing these relaxing travel spots!

  5. I love Norfolk – so beautiful 🙂
I’ve never been to the Lake District but would love to! I love how you can visit so many different places in the UK – we are so spoilt for choice 🙂

  6. I’ve never heard of most of these places, only the Lake District! I love the idea of going on a little spa break or seaside break in the Uk for a weekend. It sounds to cosy and romantic, and such a different experience altogether from going abroad somewhere sunny! ☺️ I think Scotland is such a beautiful place to go exploring around (although maybe I’m biased 🙄), but sometime soon my boyfriend and I are planning on doing a little road trip around the highlands and islands!

  9. We’re off to Wales next weekend, one of my absolute favourite places to go on holiday and my little boy loves it too. He much prefers it to going abroad, as much as I love the hot weather that you’re guaranteed when you go abroad sitting around a pool gets a bit boring for my 2 year old! Where as when we go to Wales we’re out all day in the fresh air come rain or shine and there’s lots for us to do

      1. Snowdonia is beautiful. I particularly like Conwy and Llandudno x

  10. I wish I was able to travel more within the UK but between not driving, not able to use public transport reliably and anxiety in new places I tend to stay close to home.

I always on a family vacation though check out where the nearest steam railway or miniature railway is because you just can’t beat them for day trip.

Growing up we visited the Lake DIstrict every summer because my Grandparents lived there, I miss the scenery but not the 8 hours in the car!

  11. I’m just working on a similar post. I really love the UK, it has so much to offer.

I haven’t been to Severn Valley since I was a child, oh I loved it! Rob took the kids while I had a girls holiday and they loved every minute of it x x
