ad // I’m not a fashionista by any sense of the word; I know very little about fashion trends and what’s hot right now. But I don’t think that matters one little bit – fashion and clothes is a great passion to have regardless! Spring is a great time to switch up your wardrobe and purchase some new pieces such as a womens dress or two so today I wanted to share some basic Spring items you need in your closet.
By basic, I don’t mean boring. I mean timeless and versatile pieces that can be worn over and over again. Pieces that can be switched up, dressed up or dressed down and paired with a ton of different items to give you many different outfits, without having to buy tons of new clothes.
Which is a great thing to start thinking about if you are someone that buys a lot of clothes and wants to cut down, not only to save money but also to help do your bit for the environment!
Basic pieces of women’s clothing in your wardrobe can also transcend seasons; so you’ll find you probably have a fair few of these in your closet already. Or you’ll continue wearing them long into Summer and Autumn! Basic statement pieces are a great baseline for any seasonal wardrobe, so here are some I think I absolutely perfect for Spring!
Light-weight jacket
You might decide on a denim jacket or a leather jacket, whichever style is your preference but a lighter weight jacket is a must-have piece for your Spring wardrobe when the nights aren’t quite warm enough for no sleeves but you need something light just to keep the chill off.
Plain white tee
I love a plain white tee. Who doesn’t love a plain white tee? I mean, I could be here forever talking about the different outfits you can make when you start with a plain white tee as a base. Spring is all about getting brighter and lighter, so a few basic white tees in your closet are a must-have for this season.
A few dresses
You might want to consider more casual dresses for women for long, lazy Spring days, sitting in the garden or over the park with a picnic as well as something more dressy for the evening and a maxi dress for Spring days out. But a few good quality dresses are great Spring pieces.
Light wash skinny jeans
I recently bought myself a pair of light wash skinny jeans with a couple of small knee rips and I absolutely love them. I’m typically used to wearing darker jeans but these lighter coloured pair really do scream Spring more! Again, they can be paired with absolutely ANYTHING to create some really love Spring looks.
A pair of boots
I love boots because they look super stylish but also because it’s probably not quite warm enough in Spring to wear sandals just yet, so boots are a great alternative. A nice, fashionable ankle boot can look amazing with dresses or jeans and there are so many great styles to choose from too.
Sunglasses
Not really a clothing item but definitely an item that we should all have on hand for the Spring! When the suns out, the sunnies come out. So now is a great time to invest in a stylish pair of sunglasses to go with your super cute Spring outfits!
Spring is a great season to go back to basics when it comes to fashion. To invest in more light-weight clothing that can help you feel more free and comfortable. I don’t know about you but I am SO glad to be putting all my chunky Winter coats into the back of my closet, to hopefully not be seen again for a good amount of time!

Can’t beat a white tee for spring!
Thank you, Jenny, for this. Swishing clothes is a solution as well.

I actually need to buy some new clothes this spring!
Hope this gives you some ideas!
I love this! I have been doing a Capusle Wardrobe for over a year now and all of these pieces made it into my Spring Capsule 🙂
Yay! That’s great to hear!
Sunglasses are a must when the weather get sunnier. I also wear boot most days until it gets hot.
Can’t go wrong with boots!
Great post for me to be reading on a rainy spring morning! Love your wardrobe suggestions!!! It is good to have timeless clothing items that can be dressed up or down. It does save a great deal of money! Everyone likes a few new things as a pick-me-up, but as you have clearly shown, you don’t have to spend a fortune each new season to be in style.
Yes absolutely, it definitely saves money in the long run and if you did want to switch any of these things up, you can also do charity shop!
