How I increased my following

At the beginning of this year, I jumped on the ol’ ‘bullet journal’ band-wagon. Although my “bullet journal” is something to be desired because I’m not creative, I can’t draw and I got bored very easily. So you won’t find any themed pages or pretty designs. It’s basically a glorified notebook. But nevertheless, it’s a glorified notebook that has served me well this year so far when it comes to blogging, planning and keeping track of things. And that’s the aim of a bullet journal, right? I wanted to be much more on track with my blog, now I’m taking it oh-so-seriously. I’ve drawn up each month and colour-coded different types of posts (purple for book reviews, green for blogging advice – that sorta thing) and I’ve created a graph where I keep track of my following and my growth of my blog and different social media platforms.

Great resources to improve blogger outreach

A little while ago, I posted a tweet saying that I had received a blogger opportunity from applying for a job via a Facebook group and I was quite surprised to see how many bloggers were replying to me firstly, saying they had no idea that was a “thing” and secondly, asking where they can find these sort of opportunities. I get it though, when I started blogging, I had no idea what I was doing and wouldn’t have any idea where to look for paid blogging opportunities or the chance to review products if I tried!

Tips to improve your daily page views

January has been one of my best months for page views (so far… I’m writing this on the 10th and I’m already more or less half way to what I received in all of December, so going by those statistics, I’m going to conclude that January will be my best month for page views, if I keep up what I’m doing. I’ll check back on the 31st and see if I was right – hopefully I am! If not, well don’t I look like a tit) – why is it my best month for page views? Well, firstly, I think my content is just better in general. So that always helps but also, I’m working really bloody hard to ensure that is the case. I’m going above and beyond what I usually do with my blog, experimenting with new techniques etc in order to find out if and what gains me more views.

Organisational tips to incorporate into your blog in the New Year

I am very organised. That’s not me being big-headed, it’s simply a fact. I thrive off of organisation, I work well when I’m organised, when things are in place and I know what I’m doing and when. I’ve never really been a spontaneous person, I like having a plan and a schedule. I am very much a Type A personality – you can’t get much more Type A than me! But I pride myself on this because I get shit done. I might not be the most creative person. I can’t draw or paint or write poetry or arrange flowers but you know what I can do? Get 7 blog posts written in 1 day. I can keep to deadlines and I make a plan and stick to it. I recently ran a Twitter poll about whether to do a post like it – I didn’t want to come across as pompous or anything, I simply just want to share some tips that I personally find helpful!

Things to remember when you start blogging

There’s new bloggers joining the scene every day and who can blame them?! Making new friends from all over the world, working with your favourite brands, having a platform to express your creativity and talk about things you’re truly passionate about. Why wouldn’t they? Blogging can seem like this magical, perfect world upon first impression but like every community, there will always be negatives in the blogging world some of which we simply can’t avoid. I’m sure most of us were a bit naïve and blindsided to the down sides of blogging when we first started (or even after years of doing it!) – I know I was. So for all the newer bloggers in da house, here’s a list of things you should be aware of when starting your blogging venture.

Tips on Making the Most of Twitter & Increasing Your Following

When I joined the Twittersphere at the same time I joined the blogosphere, I did not know how bloggers gained so many damn followers. I understood that I was a newbie and that it wouldn’t happen over night and many bloggers had been working for years to build up such a substantial following but I could just never envision it happening for me. Until it did.

Tips for your Book Blog’s Contact Page

As a just starting out book blogger back in 2013, I craved for the days where I would be contacted by authors and/or publishers asking me to review their books. That was something set aside specially for the top dogs in book blogging – those at the top of the game whose opinions and reviews were crucial for that particular books promotion and development. But what I didn’t really get was that a lot of it was down to me – and my blog. I needed to make it clearer that that’s what I could offer, too.

Do Numbers Really Matter?

Stats, page views, followers, Twitter followers, Facebook likes, whether you like them or not, in the blogging world, numbers are everywhere. Some people take more notice of the numbers than others. Some people are consumed by numbers and others couldn’t give a rats ass but at the end of the day, every blogger has numbers to their name. Caring about them is a whole other ball game but… do they really matter?

Coping With Blogger Envy

Let’s face it, we all do it. And not just with blogs – with everything. It’s in our nature to compare, compare, compare (yes I read that in the ‘Go Compare’ voice) but comparing your blog constantly with other people’s can seriously weigh you down. I’ve been there and it sucks.
