AD – This is a collaborative post

I don’t know about anyone else but I’ve never wanted to travel more than I do this year – right when we’re told that we can’t! It’s always the way, isn’t it? Being told you can’t do something just makes you want to do it more. Tell a kid not to press a button and you can bet your bottom dollar they’ll be pressing that button. A lot of people miss travel right now, that’s no surprise. But all we can really do is sit tight, wait it out and get out travel wish lists ready!

Which brings me on nicely to today’s blog post. I’ve done a fair few travel wish list style posts on my blog before which I always enjoy because it always get the travel juices flowing. I haven’t done a HUGE amount of travelling in my life. I’ve explored a fair bit of the UK and been to France 6 times but apart from that and a handful of holidays to the Canary Islands and Spain, that’t about the extent of my travel adventures.

But like I said in the introduction, I’ve never wanted to travel more than I do right now, right when we’re not allowed to. But you can bet that I’ve been doing some serious dreaming about my future holidays to try and scratch the itch to travel.

And today we’re heading to Florida!

I’ve never been to the US before – can you believe it. Nope, not even Disney. It’s just not somewhere I’ve ever really itched to go to. But clearly that has changed and today I want to share some of the places on my Florida travel wish list. If you’re just dying to get across the pond again, get your Florida tickets for your future, magical holidays!

So let’s grab our suitcases, put on our sunglasses and jump on the next flight to sunny Florida! Here’s some of the places on my Florida travel wish list (for when COVID is over, of course!):

Walt Disney World

I couldn’t do a Florida wish list without having Disney fill the top spot, could I? The only Disney park I’ve been to is Paris. I love it but I would definitely like to see some others! Especially after watching The Imagineering Story (which I mentioned in my Disney+ recommendations blog post), I’m eager to visit the other parks and see Epcot, Animal Kingdom and Galaxy’s Edge!

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay

Let’s get a little thrill on! I like to add a bit of extra excitement to my holidays. And if I was going to Florida with my boyfriend, he would definitely want to visit Busch Gardens because he’s a huge theme park junkie! But I’d definitely add this huge park to my travel wish list and enjoy the thrills of Kumba, Cobra’s Curse, Falcon’s Fury and more!

Universal Orlando Resort

This is another pretty obvious choice for this list but definitely somewhere I’d love to go and explore in Florida! I’d love to go and see Diagon Alley and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter (although we will not speak of the author) and Hogsmede as well as all the other fun resorts and attractions it has to offer.

Kennedy Space Center

Okay so we’ve done Disney, we’ve done theme parks, we’ve done thrills. Time to get our nerd glasses on. I’m kidding, there’s NOTHING nerdy about space. I’d absolutely love to visit the Space Center. Every time I see a photo of somewhere there I get mega jealous. It sounds like a fascinating and inspiring day out with a lot to experience and learn.

Everglades National Park

I really like the mix of attractions in this post because next we’re heading to the Everglades National Park. I love my nature as well as my Disney so I feel like this would be a great place to have on my Florida travel wish list. I think I’d like to do a guided tour as well, whilst I was here and see what incredible landscapes and animals you can find along the way.

Anna Maria Island

And finally, a place to relax and unwind after all that excitement at Disney, theme parks and the Space Center! The last place on my Florida travel wish list would be Anna Maria Island which looks like absolute paradise. I’d love to come here to really kick my shoes off and relax on the beach, eat good food and soak up the Florida sunshine. Doesn’t that sound perfect right now?

Have you been to Florida? Have you been to any of these places? Where would you recommend? And what’s on YOUR Florida travel wish list?

  1. Sure Florida is nice. I have kept it in my bucket list. But first we want to visit the national parks of west, which is getting postponed, now due to pandemic. Please visit our blog on travel and poems. I have translated some of them in English, so that you can understand.

  4. Oh mate, I would love to go back to Disneyland. I went 20(!!!) years ago when I was 10 and I had such a good time at Disney, but I’d love to go back and explore the Everglades and the Harry Potter theme park! And I’m right there with you on wanting to travel more than ever this year haha, so annoying.

  5. I’m lucky enough to live in Florida – in Tampa Bay, and I wanted to give you a big “locals” tip. While you’re in Tampa Bay, don’t overlook Clearwater Beach! It earned the title of “Best Beach in the US” 2 years in a row, and for very good reason! The sunsets are spectacular, and the sand as soft as baby powder! Definitely one of the greatest highlights of Florida!

  6. I went to Disney World last year It was the trip of a life time and I keep thanking heaven I didn’t plan it for 2020 The everglades are still on the wish list but that will have to wait

Stay well and laugh when you can

There is always something new and different to do there…never the exact same experience. Not long ago, we went to a wedding in St. Augustine. That was a lovely trip and I would like to go back there also!

  16. I haven’t heard of a couple of these! I’ve never been to the US but I would like to go to Florida (even If just for the weather). Anna Maria Island sounds lush!

  17. I’ve honestly never been to Florida, although Disney has always been on my ‘must-visit’ list. I think we need to make a point of planning a vacation after everything opens back up again… This current situation has been a reminder that you just never know!

  18. My brother and his fiance adore Florida and go for around 3 weeks every year – they love it so much they’re even planning on getting married in Disney World haha! x

  19. I had a holiday to Florida booked for this September but we’ve obviously had to postpone it. I’ll keep this post saved for when we go next year though! 😊

  20. Love this post! We did a Florida road trip last year, so feeling the same as you and sad we won’t be travelling anytime soon. I’ll be doing several blog posts soon about all things Florida but I would recommend adding Clearwater, and Naples to your list! They are amazing!
    Thanks for sharing!

  21. I really want to visit Disney in Florida too! You have such a great list of places. It is going to be awesome when we can start travelling. I think the first thing me and my partner are going to do is a staycation somewhere! Xx

  22. I’ve been to Florida a couple of times because my aunt, uncle & cousins live there. We’ve been to Disney World, but it was so long ago that I barely remember anything. I would love to go back one day & visit Universal Studios too!

  23. I’ve never been to Florida, or America in fact. I didn’t realise there was so much to do in Florida. I’d love to visit the Everglades. Theme parks aren’t really my thing but the kids love them, so at least there’s something for everyone to do there xxx

  24. I’ve been to 3 of the 5 places you listed. Walt Disney World definitely belongs at the top of the list. It’s magical! Clearwater Beach on the Gulf Coast is amazing. I’d also recommend the Daytona Speedway tour for any race fans.

  25. I love visiting Florida! In fact, we were supposed to travel there in August/Sept but it’s not happening now. Oh well, hopefully next year! I can hear Disney World calling to us!

  26. Don’t forget the west coast. Naples, Marco Island, and Captiva Island are beautiful places to visit. Also take a nice slow drive to the Keys, stopping along the way for a slice of Key Lime Pie.

  27. My partner went to Florida when she was a kid, she still goes on about all the time 20 years later. Especially the alligator in the swimming pool story 👀😂 we’d love to go with the kids if we can.

  28. I went to Florida last November with my boyfriend, and it was honestly the best holiday! It took a lot of saving, but it was worth it. We stayed at a Walt Disney World resort, and Uber’d to Universal when we needed. The theme parks actually cater really well to adults, it was just amazing. I thoroughly recommend saving and going if you have the chance <3

  29. Hehe it’s funny, because the USA is on my travel wish list, but Florida is not on that list. It does sound like it could be a cool few weeks (though maybe a bit exhausting too hehe)

  30. I swear we have the same wishlist! Even though I’ve been recently very put off by the idea of visiting the USA as I highly disagree with their gun laws and I myself am terrified of guns, there are really so many places in the US I’d love to go see, especially the different Disneylands!

    Great post 😊
