AD –  This is a paid advertorial with Femme Luxe but all thoughts are my own

It would appear that I’ve unintentionally started a bit of a confidence series of content on my blog which considering how well it seems to be doing, I’m not mad about! Confidence has been an extremely long and tiring journey for me, which you can read about in my journey with body confidence post.

Lilac Check Print Oversized Shacket

And my follow up post to that one was 6 confidence tips from someone that’s still learning. Because I don’t believe there’s ever an end goal with confidence. It’s a constant working progress. Two things that I mentioned in that post were:

  • Interrupt negative thoughts
  • Avoid negative self talk

And these are the two I want to focus on a bit more in today’s post because we will all face these things in our own confidence journeys at some point or another. They’re incredibly easy to do – and sometimes, really hard to break.

But first, as this post is sponsored by Femme Luxe, I want to share two more pieces with you that I received from them. In the previous collaborations, I’d certainly gone for more dressy items that show off a bit of skin, including a beautiful Bodycon Midi Dress. But today’s two pieces are far more comfortable – like their Co Ord Sets – and cozy and I absolutely love them!

Let’s start with the shacket. All hail the shacket.

Lilac Check Print Oversized Shacket

Lilac Check Print Oversized Shacket

I’d heard of shackets before but never seen or wore one. I picked this piece because I loved the colours and it looked like a great piece for Spring and Summer when it’s warm but there’s a slight chill in the air. The Lilac Check Print Oversized Shacket is hands down one of the best items of clothing in my wardrobe right now.

This shacket is super soft. Like suuuuuuper soft. It’s thin enough to throw over a t-shirt or vest (like I’ve done in the photo) and keep the chill off during Summer evenings. I know I will be reaching for this over and over again over the course of the Summer. And it has POCKETS. 4 whole pockets.

Brown Pattered Crop Jumper

Brown Pattered Cropped Jumper

The next piece I picked up was the Brown Pattered Long Sleeve Crop Jumper, which, I know, probably isn’t the most appropriate idem as we head into Summer. However, like the shacket, this will also be a good chilly evening piece as it’s SO cropped and not very thick either, so it’s not a jumper that you’d be wearing in the dead of Winter anyway.

I like neutral coloured things so this jumper will go well with a lot of things that I already have in my wardrobe. I I really like the pattern too and it’s a pretty comfy jumper so will be great as a thrown on. Hopefully when we can start have BBQ’s and things in the Summer!

Since starting to work with Femme Luxe, I’ve been thrown out of my comfort zone and made to take more photos of myself than I’ve done in a VERY long time. It’s been a struggle at times but it’s really helping my confidence. However, that doesn’t stop those negative thoughts and negative self talk crop up from time to time.

If you’re lacking confidence, here are 7 things I want you to remember. Which I’ve been reminding myself of lately:

Everyone has feelings like like occasionally

Everyone. Me. You. Beyoncé. Everyone. Nobody is 100% confident, with every part of themselves, 24 hours a day. It might feel like you’re the only person in the world that feels that way about yourself but I promise you, you’re not.

These feelings are totally normal

And although feeling low in confidence suuuuucks, it’s normal. It’s so normal and so many things can trigger those feelings. You don’t even have to identify what has exactly triggered it, just know that you’re not alone.

They will pass

And the feelings will pass. If you CAN identify what triggered those feeling of low confidence, then great. This will allow you to act accordingly. But if not, it will pass naturally when the time is right. Like a kidney stone.

Don’t give power to whatever has dented your confidence

If you’re one of the people that has identified what has caused this drop in confidence then that’s great but try and avoid giving power to the thing that made you feel like this. Whether that’s a person, a comment, a photo, a movie – let it go. You deserve that.

Now is the time for self care

When you’re feeling low there’s only one thing for it. SELF CARE. Yaaaaaay! Now is the time to REALLY indulge in self care and tend to your beautiful self in body, mind, soul and spirit. Need some self care advice? Check out these posts:

You’re a beautiful person – even if you don’t feel like it right now

Repeat after me: I am beautiful. You might not feel it but you are. Even in sweats. With greasy hair. And bad breath. With pizza stains down your top. This is probably the hardest point of them all and the one nobody wants to believe about themselves.

Confidence is a journey and set backs are okay

And finally if, like me, you’re on a journey of self confidence, then learn at the start that there will be set backs. And set backs are okay. You’ll learn from them and you’ll be able to deal with them going forward.

When you find yourself lacking in confidence, what do you tell yourself and how do you get yourself out of the funk? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Beautiful photos Jenny! This post is brilliant and definitely good to remember some of these points. I haven’t always been the most confident in terms of who I am/my body etc, but I take each day as it comes. We all have good and bad days, it is just important to remind ourselves that we are damn beautiful and bloody amazing! xx

  2. I needed to hear this right now. I am lacking confidence. Not sure if it’s because it is that time of the month again or because of something else.

  3. Life is a journey…it is best to be positive even when things leave you a bit rattled. You are so right about self care and showing up for yourself even on ‘bad’ days. Everything counts. In life, attitude is so very important…so, if you wear something and it makes you feel happy, you should wear more of that. Happiness is a choice we make everyday; why not embrace the little little things that make us happy? 🙂

  4. I doubt I’m the only one who is getting a lot from reading these kind of posts at the moment, especially as my confidence seems to be lower than it’s ever been, so I’m loving it. How have I never heard of a shacket before? These are both gorgeous!

  5. Thank you for reminding me that confidence is a journey. Sometimes, during the low points, you start to really let it affect you. But you’re right, there will always be highs and lows. And at the end of the day, even the setbacks are a learning process and we deserves to free any negative thoughts from our minds about ourselves <3

  6. I can seriously see your confidence growing through these fashion posts and it’s lovely to see! I am not the most confident person, it does depend on my mood, the day of the week and lots of other stuff.
I love that shacket, perfect for in between weather!
And that jumper is giving me Fendi vibes!
