I’m always up for trying new products but the thing about me is that I hate having too much “stuff”. If you know me from Twitter, you’ll know I’m a constant cleaner / sorter-outer and I hate keeping anything unnecessary. I hate having more than what I need (I guess you could say I have a fairly minimalist mindset in that respect!) and my beauty / skincare collection would be gasped at by some beauty bloggers out there! So anything that makes my life easier and isn’t left lying around doing nothing is always a bonus for me.
It might feel like 2018 has only just started but we’re going to be well into Spring before we know it! Although my favourite season is Winter (I luuuuurve the cold), I do love Spring and all the little wonders that come with it. Hot Cross Buns for breakfast, baby animals, the smell in the air as the flowers start to bloom and of course that feeling of productivity and wanting to conquer the world that comes with a new season (tell me I’m not the only one who gets that?) I’ve done two season-themed blog post ideas lists before (Autumn & Winter/Christmas) which both went down well so I thought I’d complete the set and share some Spring and Summer related blog post ideas for you to use this year!
Is there ever enough support for other bloggers you love? No, I don’t think so. However I know for a fact that I could do better with telling the bloggers I love to read how much I like their content. Being told you’re someones favourite blogger is one of the nicest things to hear and makes all the hard work you put in totally worth it. A nice comment about your post, your blog, your photography – anything – can completely brighten your day so I firmly believe that we all could (including me!) do more of that! So to make up for my lack of it, I’m doing a little post to show you which bloggers I’ve been loving recently!
My hair has been through a lot in my mere 25 years. I’m have naturally auburn hair but it’s seen the affects of severe bleaching, going bald from wearing too many hair extensions (yes, really) and going from almost to my bum to 2 inches long and every length and style in between. My hair has stayed it’s natural colour for a good few years now and I’m not planning on changing that any time soon and it’s back to a length I like but I’m still aware of the importance of taking care of your hair and always keen to try new hair products.
We all know how important a good night’s sleep is to our beauty regimen. After all, it’s when we’re asleep that our body rejuvenates itself and repairs the damage that it has suffered during the day. The skin, in particular, experiences quite a bit of damage the whole day. It is regularly exposed to pollutants and gets affected by stress and poor diet, among others. That’s why the skin needs all the help it can get to recover its health.
Thankfully, there are now products you can use to boost your skin’s restoration while you sleep. One of them is the overnight sleep mask, like Laneige’s Water Sleeping Mask, which you simply apply on your clean face. Just let it sit for about 20 to 30 minutes, and from there, it’s all a matter of sleeping on it and letting the mask penetrate your skin to experience its effects. And since you’re leaving it on overnight, the product has plenty of time to really seep in and work its wonders to your skin. Here are just a few of the beauty benefits you can get from an overnight sleep mask.
Whether you work indoors or outdoors, your skin continuously loses its moisture during the day. What’s more, your skin also tends to lose moisture at an even faster rate at night (and especially during the winter). Using a hydrating sleeping mask is the equivalent quenching the skin’s thirst, leading to dewy, supple skin when you wake up. Replenishing the moisture of your skin also gives it a healthy glow. In addition, properly hydrated skin also looks younger and is less prone to forming wrinkles.
More Soothing Sleep
Overnight sleep masks are often infused with scented oils that helps relax the mind and body, which makes for a more rejuvenating sleep. Laneige’s lavender-scented sleeping mask is just one of the many lightly fragranced masks that can help enhance your sleeping experience. Other popular scents include rose, ylang ylang, kiwi, green tea, vanilla, and sandalwood, which all help provide a more soothing sleep. Overnight masks help give a new meaning to “beauty sleep,” indeed.
Brighter, Fresher Complexion
The skin’s daily exposure to dirt, sweat, and oil, not to mention pollutants like cigarette and vehicle smoke, clog your pores and make your skin look dull and tired. That’s because these substances speed up the development and accumulation of dead skin cells, which also clog your pores. An overnight face mask delivers a gently exfoliating action, removing these layers of harmful materials from your skin. When you wash it off the next morning, you’ll immediately notice brighter-looking skin.
Sagging and dull skin are among the few of the key indications of aging. With the help of anti-aging overnight sleep masks, which rebuild and strengthen your skin’s natural protective barriers, you can slowly restore the firmness and radiance of your skin. There are also some sleep masks with active ingredients that stimulate cell turnover, the process by which our body produces new skin cells.
They are less common than hydrating, rejuvenating, or anti-aging masks, but there are also overnight treatment masks that help manage acne and other skin problems. Just remember to follow the instructions to the letter and use them only on occasion or as prescribed by a dermatologist, since the extra ingredients that help treat the acne may cause irritations when used too often.
Another thing you have to know is that a little goes a long way for sleep masks, since most of these products have more concentrated formulas compared to regular moisturizers and other skin serums. But whatever brand or type you pick, using overnight sleep masks is as simple as preparing your face with a thorough cleansing and following the application instructions on the container. All that is left for you is to go to bed and wait for the all these benefits to take effect.

Look at me, two beauty related blog posts in the first 2 weeks of the year! I’ve always said I’m not a beauty blogger (and predominantly I’m not) but lately, I have really enjoyed stepping out of my comfort zone and branching out a little more to this genre. I may not have the most articulate language to describe smells and textures of things but I enjoy it and that’s what important, right? Anyway! When I was sorta, 16-19, I was an avid fake tan wearer. If you knew me in person now, you’d honestly wonder how that was possible and whilst I look back and miss being a bronze goddess, I didn’t have the best skills and knowledge of fake tan. You just put 4 layers on right on top of each other and be done with it, right?
At the end of last year, I was lucky enough to win the October Birchbox from the lovely Lisa who runs Lisa’s Notebook. First of all, if you haven’t already, you should 100% go and stalk her blog for a few hours because it’s absolutely beautiful and ranges from books to beauty so there’s a little something for everyone. Got it? Okay, cool. Anyway, so if you know me, I’m not too savvy when it comes to beauty and make-up and that’s a-okay. But that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy trying new products and talking about them – it makes a nice change and is actually quite a nice little challenge for me every once in a while. So I thought as I’ve never reviewed a beauty subscription box before, it’s a new year and the perfect time for me to step out of my comfort zone!
I bloody love Winter. After Autumn, Winter is my second favourite season as I adore the cold and thrive in these colder months. I love wearing cosy jumpers, freezing cold walks with the dog, hearty food which warms your stomach, all the twinkling lights and starting my Christmas shopping. Although I’m not mad about Christmas Day too much, I love the Christmas and Winter ‘aesthetic’ – it’s truly the prettiest and cutest time of the year. So I’ve put together a little Winter wish list of things which are super cute which I would love to own this time of the year. You can find links to each product below! Happy shopping!
I love working with brands and PR people; on a whole, I’ve had a wonderfully positive experience in my time as a blogger and rarely have I had any negative encounters when reviewing products, doing sponsored posts and working with PR’s and brands. Having a good working relationship with PR’s and brands can be so beneficial for the both of you! I’ve recently been working with Lauren from every1 (see my previous posts here and here) and she contacted me last month about an opportunity I couldn’t turn down.
I read a blog post the other day… And I didn’t like it. And I didn’t like some of the things which were said. I won’t name and shame and this isn’t a “reaction” type post; I don’t think I’d ever go through the effort of doing one of those. But it did prompt me to want to write my own post about this topic – a topic which was rather contradictory in the original post and a topic which I think needs to be emphasised more.
