Anyone that knows me knows that I freaking hate summer. I hate it. I hate it I hate it I hate it with a roaring passion. The heat; nope. The bugs; nope. The hay fever; nope. All of it is just a big fat nope for me. My favourite time of the year is Autumn, especially that first day when summer is coming to an end and you step outside and the air feels fresher and crisper for the first time in months and you can feel Autumn on its way. Ugh, that feeling is just beautiful and brings with it all sorts of nice feelings for Autumn and a new season with new goals and new things to focus on.
I am not a beauty blogger and I won’t for 1 minute pretend that I know what I’m doing. I don’t. If you knew some of my “beauty” habits, you would be appalled. But, just because I can’t tell my lip liners from my eye liners (bit of an exaggerations but you get what I mean) doesn’t mean I don’t use, you know, stuff and have some products that I use regularly or are passionate about. I also stated in my ‘Why I’m Attempting Blogtober’ post that I was hoping it may encourage me to try different types of posts and this is one of those. So, today I’m talking about 5 of my favourite “beauty-ish” products right now.
Liz Earle Orange Flower Botanical Body Wash
I’m not known for being particularly knowledgeable about make-up or beauty products. I don’t know what I’m doing with half the things I own, I can’t contour and I still apply my foundation with my fingers. I’m also, notoriously awful at looking after my own skin, never having committed to a full skincare routine. Over the past few years, my skin has been worse than when I was 16 (probably because I keep applying my freaking foundation with my fingers but hey ho) but I’ve just not been in the position to splash out on new, fancy products which may or may not even work. My mum has seen how much my skin has been bothering me and she surprised me with some Liz Earle products for my birthday a few weeks ago and today I wanted to talk about these products and let you know how I’m getting on with my brand new skincare routine!
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not becoming a beauty blogger any time soon but I do love trying new products. If anything, sometimes I like to hear the opinion from non-beauty bloggers about products over those that work in the industry – just to hear a different point of view. I was in contact with Steph on Twitter and she kindly sent me some product samples to try out and review. The products are from Forever and are all Aloe Vera based, so super natural and super healthy and they came in super cute little packets that reminded me of those you would get in a hotel.
I’ve never been a fan of my teeth. I’ve never had braces, I’ve always hated the dentist and they’re definitely not pearly white. For that reason. I won’t be including any photos of my teeth in this post because the crookedness will make me far too self-conscious. Despite all that however, I do look after my teeth and have always wanted whiter teeth – contemplating the various procedures and expensive mouth guards you can buy in order to achieve a sparkling white smile. I’ve tried various whitening toothpastes in the past and am always open to trying something new. Which is where White Glo come in!
I enter a hella lot of giveaways on Twitter – usually in the dark of the night where most of my followers are asleep so I don’t annoy them with my obsessive giveaway tweeting! And a few weeks ago, I was lucky enough to win one! (I’d hadn’t won anything in a while so this was a nice boost!) I won a little goodie bag from Tropic Skin Care, a natural, vegan and cruelty-free skincare range that are super duper good for your skin and have all the antioxidants, vitamins and thangs you need! I’ve never tried them before and I honestly can’t say I’ve ever tried a brand of skincare who are so natural and, well, good?
When choosing the soaps I wanted, I wanted two that were going to smell vastly different. I chose a “Citronella and Lavender” smell and a “Tea Tree and Witch Hazel” because apparently those ingredients are good for your skin – so my mum says. And mother know best. Anyway, they arrived quickly and I loved the packaging – very eau natural and authentic. Continue reading
