As we head into a new year, most of us think about our personal development goals for the next 12 months. Over the last few years, I have uncovered so much about myself that I didn’t even realise was there, under the surface. And I have a clearer vision that ever of where I want to go in the future.

Personal development goals

BUT, personal growth has no finish line. And I think that’s the beauty of it. We are ALWAYS growing. Always changing. Always learning and adapting. Our values and goals may change over time and that’s okay. Different seasons of our lives require different things from us. And if the last year wasn’t a year of self growth and clarity for you, that’s a-okay my love.

So wherever you sit on the personal growth scale right now is okay. Our personal development journeys are just that – journeys. They will speed up and slow down. They will hit bumps in the road (like 2020) and they will have beautiful, smooth-sailing moments as well. Those moments are coming. Trust me.

If you’re struggling for inspiration for your personal development goals, here are 70 ideas for you!

This is obviously a LOT of goal ideas and I’m by no means suggesting you need to think about doing all of them in a New Year. Perhaps pick one or two from each category or focus on the category that you need to improve on most. It’s likely that we all have different areas of life which are going better than others.

For some, their physical health might be incredible but clarity and vision for their life might be lacking. Or perhaps you’re super productive but are seriously lacking with self care. Whatever it is, remember that it’s totally fine and life ebbs and flows like that, so will these different areas!

I hope you find some helpful ideas for some personal development goals throughout this post an consider implementing them into your life. Of course it doesn’t have to be at the beginning of a year either – there’s no right or wrong time to introduce some new goals into your life!

What are your personal development goals right now? Will you be taking on any of these goals I’ve mentioned?

  2. I’d love to have a goal in each category, so I think I’d love to do some yoga each week, start a gratitude journal, read some self-help books, stick to a to do list, create a self care kit, try and learn how to use my sewing machine, and create a vision board… I’m gonna be busy haha!!

  3. I love so much that you categorised all of these!! I generally do four classifications: spiritual, personal, familial, and dreams, but this depth of category is even more specific and I love it. These are some great suggestions x

  4. I love love love these ideas. I have been trying to focus on what I want to work on next year. Not resolutions but repairing the damage 2020 has done to my mind and body and routine.

  8. This is such an excellent list of suggestions! I am saving this list so I can read it again. I really like the one about writing down three personal or professional goals that you accomplished on any given day. We get very excited about setting new goals for ourselves. We should celebrate those stepping stones as we go along. It makes us feel like we are getting someplace…some goals take a while to accomplish. When you write something down, it makes it seem more real; it is also a great reminder of just how far we have come. Dreams take time. Every step we take towards a dream matters. Thank you for this very detailed list…I feel like I got an early Christmas present! 🙂

  9. These are some really great suggestions. I really need to drink more water as its really noticeable in my health than I’m not drinking enough. That is going to be my mind personal goal for next year.

  10. I’m in the process of setting career goals that I should have done two years ago! I’m definitely going to use some of these ideas and set some proper goals! Thanks for sharing!
