I’m not one to really celebrate Valentine’s Day. But I AM one to celebrate self-love. Any day of the year. And I’m a firm believer in that it absolutely doesn’t matter if you’re in a romantic relationship or not, there is always time and space for you to delve into some self-love activities for Valentine’s Day.

self-love activities for valentine's day

Your most important relationship, the relationship with yourself, affects every other relationship in some way or another.

I know myself, when I am in a good place mentally, when I’m taking the time to delve into self-care on a daily basis, when I’m spending time alone and tending to my needs, I’m a much happier person. And that radiates outwards towards the other relationships in my life.

I’m more energized, which means I can spend more time with friends and family. I’m more empathetic towards others with their own problems. I’m a better friend. A better girlfriend. And that’s all because I’ve taken some sweet time to practice self-love.

Self-love activities for Valentine’s Day don’t have to be anything big or outrageous. They don’t even have to cost anything (but can if you want to and are able to!) But they are beneficial to your own self-love journey.

And of course, the things listed here and ANY self-love activity for that matter isn’t only designed to be partaken on or around Valentine’s Day. Self-love should be practiced all year round.

But I find Valentine’s Day is a GREAT prompt for reminding you that hey, you deserve all that love that’s going around too!

So, with that being said, here are 50 self-love activities for Valentine’s Day (which can be done any time of year), categorized for ease!

I absolutely love taking myself out and going places by myself. As someone with a history of a severe anxiety disorder, there was a point where I never thought I’d be able to go out by myself again. It’s liberating and empowering and I’d always recommend it as an act of self-love!

Creative self-love activities for Valentine’s Day:

It’s always nice to be creative but I don’t think we give ourselves permission to be creative as adults. It’s a wonder act of self-love and self-care to just switch off and be in the moment with whatever creative activity you’re doing.

  1. Make your own face masks
  2. Book yourself in to a paint and sip event
  3. Buy the materials and start creating a scrapbook
  4. Dedicate sometime to drawing

  8. Learn how to sew / knit / embroider
  9. Go to a flower arranging workshop
  10. Attend a pottery workshop

I really hope that everyone can take some time for themselves this Valentine’s Day. Of course I know that we should be doing that all year round but hopefully Valentine’s Day is a nice little reminder to you that you should be giving yourself the same amount of love that you’re giving your partner as well.

  1. I’m all onboard time in your coffee shop. Sometimes, it where I write, too. And too wholesomely agree with the creative takes. They provide a change of scenery, inspiration, may even discover a new hobby.

  2. Even though my boyfriend and I always do dates on Valentine’s Day, I always prioritise self-love in Feb (and any month, let’s be honest!) It’s so important to remember to take care of yourself, and this year I’m for sure going to treat myself to a candle lit bath with a good book!

  3. Hi Jenny,
