I really really enjoyed writing and working on my January goals last month. I found that setting myself small and realistic goals worked absolute wonders. No huge resolutions over here in 2018, no sir-ee! So I wanted to continue the momentum into February and start the month with my February goals list! Again, these are all fairy small and doable – you won’t find any “jump out of a plane” on here!
We couldn’t believe that 2017 had been and gone and here we are already, at the end of January. Can you Adam and Eve it? I really do hope that you have had a positive start to the New Year, made some positive changes, done some fun things and are enthusiastic for the rest of the year ahead. I love January – even the cold weather, if you know me at all you’ll already know that I adore the cold! I love stepping into a New Year with the “anything can happen, it’s a brand new start” mindset and although that’s totally cliché and you certainly don’t need a new year in order to make changes in your life, for me, it helps and I always feel inspired and positive at this time of the year. So… Let’s see how well I put that into practice and how I did with my January goals!
January has been one of my best months for page views (so far… I’m writing this on the 10th and I’m already more or less half way to what I received in all of December, so going by those statistics, I’m going to conclude that January will be my best month for page views, if I keep up what I’m doing. I’ll check back on the 31st and see if I was right – hopefully I am! If not, well don’t I look like a tit) – why is it my best month for page views? Well, firstly, I think my content is just better in general. So that always helps but also, I’m working really bloody hard to ensure that is the case. I’m going above and beyond what I usually do with my blog, experimenting with new techniques etc in order to find out if and what gains me more views.
I’m truly tired of seeing bloggers who have been blogging for a considerable about of time with a considerable following trying to “keep their secrets“. Hun, you ain’t Dynamo. Bloggers who refuse to disclose how they get opportunities, what they’ve done to work with brands and those who straight up don’t reply to other bloggers on social media – not through being busy or having a bad day (I totally understand how overwhelming social media can be some days) – solely because they’re a “bigger blogger“. Huh? When did this strange, “there’s no room for all bloggers” mentality come into practice and how can we get TF rid of it?
It is January. That month that we literally just had like, 3 weeks ago. It is January… again. First of all, I want to wish you all a very happy and healthy New Year! I hope the end of 2017 saw you out well, whatever the year was like for you and I hope you’re feeling positive and enthusiastic about the year to come! I certainly am. Despite the end of the year being a bit meh and uneventful for me, 2017 as a whole wasn’t bad. I wrote about my highlights of the year here and I really can’t complain too much. But as always when a new year rolls around, I’m feeling motivated and inspired to tackle some brand new goals. But this year, I’m not going to set myself huge, unrealistic and un-achieveable goals for the entire year, I want to take it one month at a time. So here are my goals for January!
If you know me or follow my blog you might be aware that I’m a huge advocate for self-care. Self-care is a term I’ve only really come to know (and love) since starting blogging. Before joining the big ol’ blogosphere, I obviously knew we had to take care of ourselves, take time for ourselves and focus on our physical and mental wellbeing – but I didn’t realize quite how important and crucial it was. Especially the mental side of the coin.
Over the last month, my relationship with social media has changed. Whereas once upon a time, heading on to Twitter to express my concerns over something, finding comfort in scrolling aimlessly through hundreds of tweets and just generally, zoning out of real life was my solace but now, I find myself… resenting that very thing. And it’s not only Twitter, don’t worry Twitter bby, I’m not singling u out. Some days, I can’t bare to look at Instagram and the thought of going on Facebook? Oh, hell no. My relationship with social media has changed. But why?
I wasn’t actually planning on posting anything else until July but I figured it’s a good a place as any for general ramblings about stuff I’m feeling right now. So I wanted to talk about and share some current goals I have at this moment in time for the month/s ahead. They’re mostly blog related, unless I think of any random thins I want to do like skydiving. Hahahah, nope.
When I look around now, all I see are people with their heads down, necks strained and fingers and thumbs flickering constantly.
When I came onto the blogging scene in 2013, I had no idea what a Twitter chat was. I’d never seen one or heard of one and when I finally came across one (Lord only knows which one it was), I wasn’t particularly eager to get involved and I didn’t think it would be for me. When I finally did take part in my first one, I wasn’t nervous at all – I just thought I would answer some questions on Twitter and see other people’s answers to the same questions. I realised it was quite fun so started to take part in more and more, particularly ones in different topics.
